Vacation Time

The Turley's

Our family went to San Diego for a week with all of Rick's family. We do this every other year with his family. This year his oldest sister Ronda and her husband live in Virginia so they couldn't come. They have a son in college in Utah and a son on a mission that didn't come but there daughter Becky came. This year was a BLAST!!!!!

Here is where we stayed on Jamaica Court on Mission Beach. This is the Board walk that the kids would ride there bikes and we would walk along. So dang fun!!

When we pulled into San Diego to our Condos Rick was so dang stressed. He is the one that planned the vacation this time. Anyway, we drive into our address and it looks like a ghetto!! Well you have to park in the back ally's. That made it a little scary until we saw the front. This is how it was every where along the beach.
So our vacation starts off with a BANG!!!! We are figuring out sleeping arrangements and you hear a helicopter above us. Wow that is close!! Then we here, "sir please stay on the roof!" It's a police helicopter. This guy was on top of our niece Katie's condo hiding from the police. They ended up tackling him to the ground and pepper spraying him right in front of our condos. Come to find out he was so drunk and tried breaking in the the neighbor directly across from us house. They called the cops!! Whew what a way to start a vacation.

Sunday was a great day. Barr had turned 12 on Friday, so we had permission to set him apart in Cali. so we could go do baptisms in the Temple on Thurs.

Uncle Tom, Uncle Kayce, Dad, Grandpa T., Uncle Scott
& Barr

After that we went to the Mormon Battalion Museum. What a neat place that was. It told the story of the Battalion and how it came to be. After the tour the kids got to pan for gold. They were so excited to do that until we told them it wasn't real hahaha!!

Alyssa & Ashleigh trying to figure out where to go.
McKay panning for gold

Barr & Ryan panning for gold.

Monday:
Barr got to go to Lego Land with Scott's family (Rick's older brother). He was so excited to get to go with Ryan (Cousin). He rode some pretty intense rides as Barr would say. I don't have any pictures to put on here because my printer scanner doesn't work.
I had given him some money to get a souvenir. Barr is a funny kid when it comes to that. He got a Lego Land hat and he got a "Bob" mug. Which he treasures. The "Bob" mug is the closest thing to his name he could find. He is always wanting to get something with his name on it. Well, we tell him you have an unusual name!!! So "Bob" it is.

Later that night all the older grand kids went to the beach to play and Rick, myself and Barr stayed back. Well, Rick had just went to bed and April (Scott's wife) was putting her kids to bed. Me and Barr were watching T.V. and Scott came in and we felt something really weird. So Scott was like did you feel that? Just then it was bigger!!! EARTHQUAKE!!!!!! Rick comes running out of the room freaked out, we were laughing and the neighbors were screaming and yelling EARTHQUAKE!!! So I texted Alyssa and they said they didn't feel a thing!! What a weird feeling that was. The house just swayed like we were on a boat.
Tues.
Sea World!! What a cool place to go. The way these animals can be trained to do the things they do. My kids just really loved this place!! Alyssa and McKay rode the Atlantis ride and Barr chickened out :) but that's all right I didn't want to do it either.

Here are Alyssa, McKay and Barr with Penny the Penguin. We had to push McKay to take the picture. You know he is a teenager now and it's embarrasing :)

Wed.
Just our family and Rick's dad went to the USS Midway. What an amazing Ship this is. Holy Cow I would get lost if I had to work on that ship. I don't think I would be able to find my bed. The kids had a blast playing in the Jets and helicopters. Side note McKay had these aviator sunglasses and they had fun in the jets putting on the glasses. So we started calling McKay "Maverick" from Top Gun.

Thurs.
We got to go to the San Diego Temple to do baptisms for the dead. Barr was so excited that this temple would be his first time to do baptisms. It is the most amazing thing to be driving along the freeway and all of a sudden BAM there is the Temple. It is so big!! It was a little sad though because they are working on it and there was scaffolding all over the temple and up to Moroni. But here is the best I could do.

One night Kaylin (Niece) had a pirates treasure chest hunt for everyone to do all with a treasure map, a treasure box full of all kinds of beads to make a necklace and a treasure chest for all. Way to go Kaylin!!! It was great.

The kids just really enjoyed playing on the beach, going to the beach at night to see the fire works from Sea World. Or how all the grand kids from ages 23 and down to 2 years old (we did have a three month baby to but not at the beach at night) would go out to the beach at night and play red rover, missionary tag, red light green light and all other games together!!

Riding the bikes on the board walk was another fun thing for them to do. They would also take boogie boards to the ocean and ride the waves. Get up early to look for shells. Stay up late and just visit with cousins.

What a great week our family had and it was so hard to leave that fun adventurous place!!

I will miss the walks along the beach looking for shells, or just enjoying the water, seeing my kids have such a great time. Long talks with family (til 2 a.m. one night) seeing the sites, & playing in the water. My kids said this is by far the FUNNEST vacation yet. (I will not miss the sand in my condo on my dang feet UHG)

We will miss you Mission Beach:( But we will be back!!
