Track 2015

Both my boys did track this year & couldn't have been happier either.  Rick has been trying to talk McKay into doing track since Freshman year.  He almost did track Sophomore & Junior Year but friends kept him in baseball.  His Senior year he did it!!  He got alot of grief from coaches & friends but he loved every minute of track.  Barr has always done track.  This year Barr did Shot & discuss again.  He did so much better this year in the discuss!!  Rick had been going down helping him on his days off trying to get his form down.  He threw so much farther this year.  Hoping next year he can make it to state!!
McKay ran 100, 400, 4x100, 4x400, long jump & triple jump.
He told Rick "What the heck was I thinking not doing track all this time?"  I could have been so good!!!  He did really well in track.  He was one of the fastest on the team & he loved the relay races & all the races.  He was just glad he beat the Workman kid from RV haha.  He did really well in the long jump & triple jump.  McKay actually made it to state in those 2 events.  He didn't want to do any running events in State because of all the super fast boys hahaha.  He had it in his head that he just wanted to do good in the long jump.  Well, that didn't help.  He threw his game off big time at state.  He didn't do well in triple jump but could have placed cause the kid that he couldn't beat ever scratched every time at state.  McKay was so mad!!  So he did triple jump the next night & wasn't to thrilled that his coaches wouldn't help him.  Rick didn't want to throw him off his game so he didn't say anything.  Well, McKay was worried of scratching so he didn't even hit the board to jump off.  Some lady from SJ had to tell him cause our coaches were no where to be found.  Anyways!!  McKay made it into the final round & thought he took 4th to get a metal but they take the previous best scores of those boys & so McKay took 7th.  I was sure proud of him though!!

At the Blue Ridge meet they introduced the javelin.  Barr fell in LOVE with this.  He is hoping that they will let HS do that next year.  Rick was talking to the Snowflake coaches & they had told Rick if Barr wanted to go to Snowflake for 1 more meet to see if he could qualify for state he could.  Rick talked to the coaches & Honsinger & they let him go in to that meet.  Rick took Barr in & Barr was all ready & was throwing so dang good.  Well, the meet got behind & they didn't get a guy over to the discuss arena for 2 hours & Barr psyched himself out having to wait around & didn't qualify :(  So proud of this boy of mine!!  He worked so hard but he gets so stressed out!!  You got this next year bud!!

Alyssa & Brooks were able to go to state track with us so we wanted to surprise McKay with this cute shirt we made!! Cute huh!!

Good job guys! so proud to be your mom!!  You both competed so hard this track season!! :)
