It's that time of year for the TREK!! Barr was so excited to go. He was 1 year too young at the last trek. He has been so excited. He was just nervous about his family but he got a GREAT family!! McKay was asked to be a big brother but he wasn't real excited to do that. One night Daniel Franco called him & asked him to be a hooligan!! He was so excited to do that instead. He had a lot to still do for his mission still too so being a hooligan was only 1 night.
Here are all the trekkers from Heber 2nd ward!! What a great looking group of kids!
Barr with his good friend Bridgette McLaws, We had to get a picture with Jessica to see if McKay would be jealous haha, Noah & Barr then yes that's McKay ready to raise some havoc on the trekkers!!
McKay had to many fun stories when he got home that night about how some people dressed as Indians. The blowing up tanerite (SP) Dane Stephens yelling all kinds of swear words haha. Craig Blackburn & McKay stealing cookies & cutting the ropes of the carts. It was all to show the kids some of the things the pioneers suffered when going across the plains.
One story that McKay told me brought me to tears (Barr talks about this story too) During the womens pull the hooligans painted their faces white & wore white shirts with dark pants. They waited until the women were struggling to get the carts up the hill then the "Angels" came over the hill to help the women. I can just see these men with white faces come over the hill. What an amazing site they had to have seen!! I was in tears when he was telling me this. Another thing these guys came up with is to have Marcie holding Kamryn acting like she passed away & Tyson was digging a grave for her. Just gives me chills. I am so thankful for the pioneers & what they went through.
This is Barr after the trek. See that he is still smiling BIG!!! He LOVED the trek. 1st thing he said is "Our family was stacked!!" We had Sam Williams, & Colter Bradshaw!!! He was so excited that his good friend that used to live in Heber who is now in Taylor was in his family, Kelsee Hensley! His parents were the Owes from Taylor. (Roy & Lana) Barr had taken their daughter on a date before & they were sitting around introducing themselves & Barr goes "Ma shouts out, Hey I know Barr Turley! you asked our daughter on a date!!!" Barr was so embarrassed but thought it was funny!! He loved everyone in his family & had NO complaints!! When he took his shoes off his feet were BLACK!! Barr was like yep that's what a trek will do to ya :) So glad for kids that didn't complain about going on the trek!!
By the way he is still so cute even after the trek!!
