Our SWEET Missionary!

We were welcomed by having Carissa live with us for a month before she left on her mission.  We have always had a spot in our lives for her.  Her & Alyssa are best friends so she has basically lived at our house.
When she came home for Christmas break she really wanted to move in but kept saying "no I'll stick it out I'll be fine!"  Well she finally moved in on her birthday!!!
To start with her mission, When Pres. Monson changed the age she was telling Alyssa that she was really thinking about it.  She was nervous of what her family would think.  Which the Young's (Grandparents) are not members who support her financially, what they would say.
She moved home thought about going to Chandler/Gilbert.  Went down there & just didn't feel it.
One Sunday evening she showed up in a dress and started crying.  I said "are you ok?"  "I just went and talked to Bishop" OK what is wrong???
I'M GOING ON A MISSION!!!!
After lots of prayers she was able to tell her family and they all came around and are excited.
She was worried about how to pay for it.  Her friend from college Mindy's dad told her he would pay for her mission & we told her we would help also.
What a sweet blessing of this girl living with us & deciding to serve a mission.

Carissa after going through the temple.  What a great feeling it was to have your 2 sweet daughters in the temple at the same time!

When she got set apart.  It was a special night indeed.  Her Grandma Duncan bore her testimony along with Carissa.  You could feel the spirit so much that night.

Good bye's are the worst!!  Alyssa couldn't miss school to help us take her up to Utah.  This was a great night for both girls.  They had a hard time saying goodbye!

Carissa wanted us to take her up to the MTC and we were excited to.  We stayed with Rick's brother Scott and had a great time.  He lives close to Jordon River Temple (which we did a session in), Oquirrh(SP) Mountain temple & Draper.  So we went and just looked at temples one day.  Carissa had her Sunday clothes on so we told her to go inside Oquirrh temple and see the stair case.  The man at the desk took her on a little tour and she was glad.
The next day was the dreaded day of dropping her off.  She was so nervous and excited.

This was THEE HARDEST thing to see!! her walking off for 18 months

We just love this girl and call her our other daughter.  She has been a great example to our boys while living here and just always being here.
Good Luck Sister Young!!
