Softball finally started for Alyssa. She has waited for so long for this sport to start. She started last week at a scrimmage in Holbrook. The coach put her in to pitch. She was soooooo dang nervous and so were we (her parents). This weekend there was a Desert Classic in Phoenix. They played 4 games total. These girls played so good together. Alyssa didn't get to pitch the 1st game but the others she got a little bit of pitching in. She is just a Freshman and they have to let the older girls play first. The first game was against Salt River. Big dang girls we played against. We held our own and lost in a sudden death 8-7. We stayed up with them the hole game. Alyssa was in left field and the girl up to bat hit it over the fence. 2nd game we played Desert Christian. They were a tough team and we did good once again. Alyssa got to pitch the last 3 innings on this game. Lost 5-9 on this game. Then the girls got to go to an ASU girls Softball game. They had alot of fun at the game and ASU killed them and called the game early.
To the motel story. They stayed in a not so good area. At a team meeting they were told to go to there rooms and lock the doors and shut the curtains. Holy Moly are you kidding me. What is my girl staying at. Alyssa said the beds were awful and hard. The carpet didn't look like it had been cleaned EVER! The whole night they had lights from cop cars in the window. Heard ambulances all night. Wow does this sound like fun or what. For there "Continental Breakfast" was a honey bun in a wrapper. For crying out loud you want this team to play after eating just that. So they got to stop and eat.
3rd game Alyssa didn't get to play but he had her warming up through most of the game. Made me a little mad but anyway, they played Phoenix Country Day School. They sponsered this classic. The score was 11-1. 4th game was against Mayor. Alyssa got to pitch this game. What a pitcher she was. She struck 4 girls out. In one inning all three batters struck out. The coach said to the girs why are you coming in. Three up three down. He wasn't paying attention to the game at the time. She pitched an amazing game. One girl Kayla Johns hit a home run, not just over the fence but to the sidewalk behind the fence. 23-1 on this game. Fun and exciting weekend for our little Freshman playing on the Varsity team. Keep it up Alyssa.
